June: Chase To The End Of The World

Our red, white, and blue beauty finds herself wandering through an abandoned missile testing site, where the glory days may be long gone, but the buildings still have a certain effect on a girl. Crumbling structures, forgotten control rooms, sunbaked concrete—everywhere she looks is another reminder of an age when engineers apparently believed there was no problem that couldn’t be solved with more horsepower.

At first, she’s simply exploring. A curious girl poking around a forgotten corner of American history beneath a beautiful California sky. But then she starts imagining what this place must have been like in its heyday: alarms ringing, countdowns echoing, enormous rockets roaring dramatically toward the heavens.

Three… two… one…

Before long, her patriotic enthusiasm gets the better of her, and pieces of clothing begin disappearing with approximately the same reliability as stages separating from a rocket. Eventually, there’s nothing left but the woman, the sunshine, and some very memories of launches long-since-passed.

What can she say? Some girls like convertibles. Some girls like diamonds.

Some girls need the vertical thrust of hard steel and jet fuel to get them off the ground.
